In this week's installment of Adobe Flashback, we'll be flashing back to... just over a week ago. (Hey, level 10 is made in Flash, so it qualifies for this series.) There are many things that made the final level of Stinkoman so so very great, but which one would you say makes it most great? The gameplay? The cutscenes? The bosses? The graphics? The music? The story? The surprises? The Stinkomanual entries? The intro cinematic? Other parts of the update are fair game as well, even if it's not actually part of level 10. Your favorite part could be the easier mode, the edge-fall respawn, the mid-level checkpoints, or whatever else was recently added. Think of this as a sequel to the "What about level 10 are you most excited for?" poll if you'd like.

So I know the question is about my favorite thing, but since we haven't made a dedicated thread for the level's release, I'm going to take this time to enumerate just about everything I love about level 10. - The graphics. I know this is Videlectrix we're talking about so it should go without saying, but this level has GOOD GRAPHICS. The skulls and pillars? Sublime. That stained glass window in the background with sunlight streaming through it? Gorgeous. Don't get me started on the Planet K sunset scene in the end credits. It all looks so good and blends in so well with the rest of the game's graphics and it makes me really happy.
- The difficulty. They could have made it easy and they didn't. Level 10.1 has killed me numerous times (especially the Lorbers and that bit with the timed platforms and the ladder you have to jump onto), and the bosses are hard.
- You can tell the music was made by a different person and I kind of miss Jonathan Howe's style, but the level 10 music is so good. Plus we got, what, three new tracks? I hope they release the Videlectrix music compilation soon.
- Probably the most satisfying thing about level 10 is the ending, by which I mean everything from the first bossfight onward. Z Sabre is a great boss; his attack patterns remind me a little of the end boss in Wario Land: Shake It!. Then you get to fight the secret final boss, Mecha-Trogador, who — I don't know, something about him is so satisfyingly final boss-like. It's a perfect bossfight to end the game on. But wait, then you get to play through the escape-the-crumbling-fortress sequence, which is fairly easy compared to what you just went through but it's also just fun, you know? Then you get the end cutscene (with 20X6 Marzipan name reveal?!) and end credits. It's everything that you could possibly want from the ending of Stinkoman 20X6.
You ever experience that psychological effect after something that you've been excitedly awaiting finally happens, where no matter how good it was, part of you is like, "Aw man, it's over. I wish I was still waiting for it. That part was fun."? I got a little bit of that on Monday, December 21, after I'd played through level 10 and finally beaten the game. As I kind of knew that I would. But you know what? Level 10 was so incredibly well done that I mostly just feel satisfied. I think my favorite thing about it is how cohesive it all feels. I can't imagine a better send-off to Flash. Thank you, Mike and Matt and Jez and everyone else who breathed life into this level. I think the fact that this happened is proof that we're not living in the worst timeline.
