'Twas amazing. Here's a bulleted list. - These storybook-type things have always been just kind of okay. None of them have done anything particularly special, aside from occasional jokes about the site's history and a cool stylization. This one finally lived up to the potential of the storybook world. More lively animation and expressions, outrageous narration, subversions of the usual storybook stuff, children's book tropes and parodies, it did everything that a storybook toon should.
- They need to take turns thinking about soft pillows because it's too dangerous to do it at the same time.
- Storybook Grunt Mad's singlet and shoes are black in this one for some reason.
- The fact that they included the phrase "While definitely illegal, I don't think non-regulation ping-pong is my third fear", and that it makes complete sense in context, may be the best thing in Homestar Runner, and by extension, the entirety of existence.
- The cutesy, simplistic children's book drawing of a wet pigeon poking its head through the eyehole of a decomposed raccoon corpse swarmed by flies. Fun for the whole fambly!
- The ghost tail bit is so dumb, yet my favorite part of the cartoon. Look at his face! And that sound! It's a recipe for comedy gold!
- The mystery of The Cheat's voice and Bubs's skin color revealed!
- Another glimpse at Sweet Cuppin' Cakes is always great. And so is Strong Bad's retroactive endorsement of Bic-point pens. He... he is always using it.

And here is another bulleted list. It's what plants crave! - My first reaction to watching the toon was, "Maybe where I went wrong in writing The Homestar Runner Discovers The Stick was trying too hard to have it make sense."
- The storybook: Amazing. Fantastic. Good Halloween plot, good lines, good spooky woods background. Worthy to stand alongside any Homestar Runner boxed set.
- As a Halloween toon, I have minor quibbles with it: for the second year in a row many of the characters didn't participate, and I'm a little disappointed the non-storybook world didn't play a role whatsoever. Was kinda like, "Halloween storybookâoh, and here's costumes!" I still contend we haven't yet had a post-hiatus Halloween toon that beats I Killed Pom Pom. All the same, I really loved it, probably more than Mr. Poofers Must Die.
- I'll never get tired of how the storybook characters talk ("SUCH A FRIGHT!"), nor of narrator Strong Bad's snarky editorials ("said a pallid bust of Pallas").
- "But Pom Pom had already gone to a party at some rich kid's house." Classic. Pom Pom was a real jerk back then too apparently.
- I never knew before just how much I needed to hear The Homestar Runner say "golgi apparatus".
- More phrases I absolutely love: "an athletic terrife", "squelched The Homestar Runner", "behind a very great bush", "I really like your 'give me nightmares forever and always' costume".
- I think I'd be okay with never seeing that half-decomposed raccoon again.
- Costumes I recognized this year (upon closer examination if not on sight): Strong Bad as Bic mascot, Homsar as a bill, The Cheat as Little Caesar.
- Whoa, I didn't even notice the Bubs's skin thing! Ha! I was right all the long!
- Sweet Cuppin' Cakes sequences always feel like a pleasant sick dream. I'm not certain what the palm trees were in aid of, but they blended in nicely.
- I'm sorely tempted to add "Strong Bad is known far and wide for his enthusiasm for Bic ballpoint pens" to Strong Bad's wiki bio, but I feel like it might get axed.
Also, I have to express my appreciation for your soft pillow comment. That got a snort out of me.

And here is another bulleted list. It's what plants crave! I am now going to write another bulleted list in response to your bulleted list which followed my bulleted list. - Yeah, it was a great toon, but just a good Halloween toon. Hoping for something more... plotty next year. With a diversity of locations and characters and such.
- I too recognized Little Chaetsar, and also Strong Bic, but only after I saw the pop-up label thing. For some reason I thought he looked like some kind of anime character or something at first. And I don't even watch anime, so I'm not entirely sure how I made that connection. And I obviously recognized the two I already guessed, but only because of other people's costume predictions.
- I didn't actually notice the Bubs's skin thing immediately either. I think someone on the Discord might've pointed it out. Probably Rasterm'n.
- Looks like someone beat you to the punch. And a well-respected admin too! In the very first sentence no less!

Though I've long felt he'd probably be first in line for sysopdom if the HRWiki were in the market. Anyway, RickTommy's subsequent edit is exactly what I was afraid would happen. Of course, accuracy is worth more to the wiki than humor, but I still kinda prefer Defender's version.

I remember that now. I probably shoulda checked first. But still though, a well-respected user with a lot of seniority.
