Homestar Runner has been instrumental in shaping the sense of humor I have today, and I'm sure I'm not the only fan who has adopted Homestar Runner lines into my everyday speech. I'm curious, what lines or mannerisms from the body of work do you use regularly? Some of my own are below...
"I'm aware of that, Humidibot."
— whenever a computer or phone interrupts me to tell me something I already know
"Uh, yeah. That's not true."
— to any obviously false statement
"Ohh. There's two of them."
— practically any context in which there's notably two of something
"Have a time!"
— as a generic send-off
"Um, not with you, creepazoid."
Oh man, I've found so many uses for this one (and slight variations thereof). One of my favorites is saying "not from you, creepazoid" in response to a spam email offering me a scholarship at a college I don't care about.
"That didn't work."
— in Homestar's voice, of course — I've used it so extensively that I nearly forgot which toon it was from
"Not tonight he doesn't... come... in the night... Trogdor."
Usually not verbatim, but my brother and I often tack "in the night... Trogdor" to the end of a sentence that rambles or trails off awkwardly.
"Our family is literally and figuratively so great."
Sometimes I use the full quote, sometimes I just swipe the phrase "literally and figuratively".
"Hey, brother. Hey, my bromide. You look like a cool guy who likes to progress."
"Bromide" is my brother's and my go-to nickname for each other. The full quote comes up in occasional random contexts.
"I don't know what that meeeeans... and you still smell like pea sooooup..."
— in response to anything particularly confusing, often from a computer
"Turn it out, Strong Bad, turn it out!"
— typically substituting some other verb for "turn" depending on the context
"Yeah, I'll see it when I believe it."
— as a substitute for the usual phrase
I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting, so I might add to the list. I've also adopted little linguistic habits like using "not x" as shorthand for "the opposite of x" or "things/people that aren't x", or assigning random integral articles to things ("Oh, hello, the police"). There are a few Dooble-isms that I occasionally slip into my speech as well, like "You have to get acceptable" or "That's not the right way to do it, Jackson!" So, what are some of yours?
